Do You Sing Queen In The Shower?!
Mon, Apr 23rd, 2018

Sanctuary Bathrooms ran a polI to see what people sang in the shower! Queen was runner up in the battle for the ultimate shower sing-along award.

Brits across the UK voted for their favourite artists and which legendary rock stars they’re most likely to sing in the shower.

The research, conducted by Sanctuary Bathrooms, a Leeds-based bathroom retailer, found that 89% of respondents sing the tunes of some of the UK’s most famous artists, with almost 4 in 10 (37%) saying they did it all the time.

Over 125 artists were nominated across a range of genres – everything from Coldplay to Cradle of Filth – but the clear winner was Ed Sheeran, followed by Queen and Adele.

The top 10 most popular artists were:

1 Ed Sheeran (35% of respondents)

2 Queen (31%)

3 Adele (26%)

4 ABBA (20%)

5 Bon Jovi (20%)

6 Bruno Mars (18%)

7 Michael Jackson (18%)

8 Little Mix (18%)

9 Taylor Swift (17%)

10 Oasis (17%)

The survey also found that:

• Women (88%) are more likely to sing, hum or whistle in the shower than men (73%)

• Men are more likely to sing Queen (39%), Oasis (31%) or David Bowie (31%) than Ed Sheeran- only the 7th most popular choice for their gender

• Ed Sheeran is the top choice in all age groups except the over-40s, who prefer Queen

• Younger age groups (94% of 18-25-year-olds) are more likely to sing, hum or whistle in the shower than older groups (80% of over-40s)

• 71% of 18-25s use their phones to play music while they shower, compared to just 24% of over-40s

James Roberts, Director of Sanctuary Bathrooms, commented on the findings: “The results of this survey show that, for most of us, showering isn’t just practical: it’s a space to relax, revitalise, and even get a bit creative.  “With the number of emotional and physical health benefits singing in the shower can have, we’d recommend everyone give it a go – although maybe wait till you’ve got the place to yourself first!”
