About Mari Haugen Smistad:
Mari is a 25-year-old actress and singer, born and raised in Trondheim. Song and dance has been in her blood as long as she can remember, and dressing up and acting on the home farm Smistad began when she was only a child.
In high school Mari chose to focus on song, but after the musical program at Trondheim Cathedral School she got the chance to satisfy all her interests in musical performance at the Bårdar Academy in Oslo (2003-2005). Three years she joined the Gothenburg Theatre Academy's musical program, "The Artist" (2005-2008).
Marie made her debut at the Norwegian Theatre, where she played several roles, in the newly written musical Peter Pan (2007). Her first leading role was "Wendler" in the European premiere of Spring Awakening in Karlstad (2008/2009). This led her to the Trøndelag Theatre and the role of "Ilse" in the same musical (2010), where she also was dance captain. Mari has in addition worked as a singer in the group show "Showbøck", and as a waitress, and when not appearing on stage she continues to study psychology.
Mari auditioned for the Stockholm production in January this year and won the part. Almost exactly a year later, January 2011, she will take on the role a second time when the Norway production opens.
