Freddie Mercury was an internationally acclaimed musician. Even after death he continues to bring happiness to millions of people all over the world.
As frontman of the band Queen, and as a solo artist, he needs no introduction. However, few people know of his
connections to Feltham.
• In 1964, aged 17, Freddie moved with his family to Gladstone Avenue.
• He studied at Isleworth Polytechnic and later Ealing Art College before moving to Kensington where he met the other members of Queen.
The rest, as they say, is history. In life he was a man of contrasts. An
extravagant showman of the first order on stage, he was an intensely private individual off it. Although he rarely gave interviews, everyone who knew him agreed that he was a generous and good hearted person.
In a world where the word legend is used too easily, he was and still is the real thing. He brings so much pleasure to so many people it seems only right to give something back. We are proud to be able to say that Freddie lived in Feltham, and the London Borough of Hounslow is proud to have the first permanent memorial to him in Britain.
“At last, a focus in Freddie’s beloved England for fans worldwide to visit and enjoy.” Freddie’s family
